My dad says to me “you only get one shot at this life. Its not a rehearsal”. While he may not be one of the great philosophers I think this sentiment is spot on and a good mantra to live by.  I feel I’ve had more than my share of major surgeries already and allegedly I’m only half way through my life. Without medical intervention you would not be reading this. It makes you wonder what’s coming as my body and mind accelerates it’s gradual decline.  I celebrated my mid life crisis with spectacular aplomb. We bought a shiny new sports car. Before purchasing it we made a ‘for and against’ list of should we proceed. In the ‘against’ side was all the budget saving and practical reasons. In the ‘for’ column was one item, a big smiley face.  We made the purchase. We still love that car. It’s a symbol of achievement, freedom and of making the most of the time we have here and I have a big smiley face every time I drive it.  Having been surrounded by our own illnesses and th

12 June 2018 - Meeting Tony Prophet

Let me tell you more about Tony. About a week before the World Tour a few of us received a special invite to have coffee with Tony Prophet, the Chief Equality Officer of Salesforce. Tony would like to meet some Women In Tech to understand our perspective of working in the industry.  What an honour, how could any of us refuse such a request. We were delighted.  So, 08.00 on World Tour morning a small group gathered to meet Tony. We were invited into a briefing room and waited. Shortly afterwards Tony appeared and sat with us.  Tony has been with Salesforce for nearly 2 years. I remember first seeing him at a special session for MVPs and User Group Leaders hosted by Marc Benioff on the last day of Dreamforce 2016. Marc had put together a Q&A for us to ask anything and had his senior team in situ should he need support on any answers. The session was quite emotional and many questions weren’t the usual product related ones but more about the human in society. This may

I’d managed to get an ‘early’ night, getting to bed for 23.30 on Wednesday so I could be on top form for Thursday. Imagine my delight when I woke up at 05.30, a whole hour before my alarm. I kept telling myself to get back to sleep, to get a grip, it’s only a tech conference. But it’s not. London World Tour is the biggest event outside the States for Salesforce, with 12,500 registrations this year, and I was just too excited. It’s a day (and night) when I hang out with my friends, meet new people, learn loads, be a speaker and give back to the community.  So what got me do bloomin’ excited? Well, let me tell you all about it.  The day started at 08.00 when a few of us got a special invite to have coffee with Tony Prophet, Chief Equality Officer. Tony wanted some time with Women in Tech members of the community and we were very happy to oblige.  I’ll talk about our time with Tony in another blog. But meanwhile, let’s get on with the World Tour Day. After coffee with T
